On Sept. 26, 2021, at about 7:28 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 3500 block of State Highway 36 near Hydesville for the report of a male passed out in the driver seat of an idling vehicle on the roadside.
Deputies arrived in the area and contacted the male, who was identified as 26-year-old Maxwell Thomas Elliot. Elliot was found to be on active parole with a search clause. During a search of Elliot, deputies located drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine packaged for sales.
Deputies deployed HCSO K9 Yahtzee to conduct a free-air sniff around the vehicle, during which K9 Yahtzee indicated the presence of additional controlled substances within the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located additional drug paraphernalia and over one pound of cannabis bud.
Elliot was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sales (HS 11378), possession of a controlled substance paraphernalia (HS 11364) and possession of marijuana for sales (HS 11359(a)).
