Calfire Humboldt-Del Norte Unit:

This morning, multiple air and ground resources responded to a vegetation fire reported at Table Bluff County Park near Loleta.

The fire burned over 4 acres and required resources to be committed for several hours.

An unextinguished campfire is suspected of causing the fire. Evidence of illegal wood cutting was also observed.

Abandoned campfires unfortunately become more prevalent in the fall. Cooler temperatures lead to more warming fires. It is important to completely extinguish all campfires until they’re cool to the touch at any time of the year.
