Craig passed away peacefully at home in Eureka on Saturday, March 12. Over the past few years, he battled multiple health issues.
Craig was born in Oakland to parents Robert and Shirley Maynard in 1954 and grew up in Orinda.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 8 years, Kathleen; his sister, Robin (Kevin) Bartoo of Sebastopol; brother, Skip (Terri) Maynard of Donnelly, Idaho; nieces and nephews, Morgan, Alex, Alyssa, Sierra, Jacob, Caleb, Samuel and Grace; step-daughter, Siobhan (Chuck) Ayres; step-granddaughters Emma and Maya; and his loving and loyal Siamese cat, Buffy.
Craig graduated from Miramonte High School in Orinda, CA, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from California State University, Chico. He had a successful career as a systems analyst/software developer and retired from Fry’s Electronics in 2016.
During his college years, he spent summers as a camp counselor at Camp Beaverbrook in Cobb, and had many friends and fond memories of his time there. Craig was a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout.
He loved to take vacations and took several trips with Kathleen to Maui and Kauai, Cabo San Lucas, and a cruise to Alaska. They also attended baseball spring training many times in Arizona to cheer on the Oakland A’s.
He loved jokes and humor, baseball, the Oakland A’s, the Beatles, skiing, camping and model railroading.
Before moving to Eureka in 2018, Craig and Kathleen resided in Oakland.
