Gary Lealond Jordan, Sr.
September 23, 1950 – March 8, 2022

Gary Sr. was born to Helen and Lealond Jordan on September 23, 1950, in Eureka, the oldest of five siblings. He passed on March 8, 2022, in Hoopa.

Graveside services will be March 17, 2022, at 1 p.m. on Bald Hill at the Beaver Family Cemetery. Jacklyn Billings and Rodney Vigil Sr. will be officiating. A gathering after the service will be at the Blessed Kateri Church in Hoopa.

Gary went to school in Hoopa all of his life, graduating from Hoopa High in 1968. He married Lorelee Sanderson in 1969. Together they had five children: Gary Jr. (Punny), Derrick, Brandon, Brian (Itty), and his baby girl Andrea.

He is well known for all the years he spent being a Logging Truck driver. He worked for Hoopa Tribal Forestry right out of high school in the ‘70s. He went on to work for Paul Jackson’s Trucking where he was famously known as the “Fonz.” He then went to work for Hoopa Valley PUD. In the early ‘90s he was able to save up enough money and fulfilled his dream of owning his own logging truck. Due to the declining logging industry, he went back to work for HVPUD and worked there until his retirement in 2016. In the early 2000s, Gary and Rebecca Ferris started dating and spent many years together being a grandpa and grandma to all who came to their home. Gary is well known for having numerous projects and tinkering around, from wood working, working on small machinery, gold panning, mushroom picking, hunting and his biggest passion of all was fishing. Overall, he loved spending time with all his loved ones. Family was very important to him. There are too many stories to tell especially when it came to the times he and his brothers spent together!

He is survived by his children: Gary Jr. (Kayla), Brandon (Mariah), Brian (Clara), Andrea (Robert “BJ”), Ilene (Eric), Tescheanche’ (Quentin). His grandchildren: Vanessia (George), Christian, Sebastian, Levi, Nathan, Ryan, Elysia, Jett, Quinn, Rebecca, Louisa, Julia (Darren) and his special babies Deanna and Mason. His siblings: Sharon, Danny (Ronalda), Paula (Junky), Larry (Angie). He is preceded in death by his parents Helen and Lealond Jordan, his baby boy Derrick and his grandbaby Cyle, and his loving partner Becky.

Pallbearers are Gary Jordan Jr., Brandon Jordan, Brian Jordan, Sebastian Jordan, Levi Jordan, Leland Jordan, Rocky Jones, Eric Castaneda, Pete Perez, Russell Marshall Jr., and Mason Ferris.

Honorary Pallbearers are Christian Jordan, Nathan Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Danny Jordan, Larry Jordan, Junky Gray, Kenny Bain, Duffy Mott, Bradley Marshall, Larry Michael Jordan, David Ruiz Sr., Nolan Begay, Wilson Donahue, Gary and Curt Dempewolf, Filmore Harvey, Bergie Ammon, Jamie Carlson Kane, Quentin Matilton, Robert ‘BJ” Jackson, George Tirado, Darren Howerton, Bob McConnell, Richard Moon, Guy Baldy, and Page Matilton.
