Eder Samir Galindo Ramirez was the 15 year old son of Alvaro Galindo and Blanca Ramirez of Arcata. He was born in San Bernardino on March 8, 2007, and moved with his family to Arcata in 2015. He instantly fell in love with the beauty and fresh air of Humboldt.

Eder attended Pacific Union School in Arcata from 2015-2021. He was very proud to be able to graduate while he was struggling with cancer and dealing with the many therapy sessions in San Francisco. He was a freshman at Arcata High, where he played football and basketball. Eder was a very loving, strong, and dedicated young man who was very committed and focused on his studies as he cared for school very much. Eder and his family sincerely appreciated all the support he received from his classmates, teachers, and staff at Pacific Union and Arcata High School.

Eder loved his family very much, especially his Mom, Dad and four brothers, Axel, Andy, Emir, and Yazid. He always enjoyed playing video games and board games with his brothers. He had a particular spot in his heart for Luna and Chase, his cats. Eder also loved spending time with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

After a year and eight months, on May 15, 2022, Eder lost his battle to cancer. He fought very hard every day with a smile on his face. The Galindo Ramirez Family thanks everyone at UC San Francisco and Mad River Hospitals for all their help during Eder’s cancer treatment. Thanks also to Hospice of Humboldt for their care during Eder’s last days.

His family and friends will truly miss him, and all your ongoing support and accompaniment is greatly appreciated during these difficult times. Heaven has gained an angel, rest in peace.

The viewing will be on Friday, May 20 from 5-7 p.m. at Paul’s Chapel in Arcata, with the Rosary from 6-7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Church on May 21 at 10:30 a.m. After mass, the burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Arcata.

Después de un año y ocho meses, el 15 de mayo 2022, perdió la batalla contra el cáncer. Luchó muy duro todos los días con una sonrisa en su rostro. La familia Galindo Ramirez agradece a todos en los hospitales de UC San Francisco y Mad River por toda su ayuda durante el tratamiento contra el cáncer de Eder.
