Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On Nov. 23, 2022, at about 7:45 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a business on the 1400 block of Glendale Drive near Blue Lake for the report of an assault.

During their investigation, deputies learned that the suspect, 33-year-old William Meders, physically assaulted an adult male victim outside the business unprovoked. Following the attack, Meders fled the area and the victim sought medical treatment at a local hospital.

Deputies located Meders in the area of Highway 299 and he was taken into custody without incident.

Meders was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of battery with serious bodily injury (PC 243(d)).
