Humboldt County Drug Task Force press release:
On Friday January 6th, 2023 Agents from the HCDTF and Deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at the 13000 Block of Highway 96 in Hoopa. After receiving numerous citizen complaints that 44 year old Robby Jackson and 42 year old Kathlene Mellon were selling large quantities of fentanyl throughout the Hoopa Valley, HCDTF Agents obtained a search warrant for their residence located at the 13000 block of Highway 96.
During the service of the search warrant, Jackson attempted to flee on foot from law enforcement but was quickly apprehended. Mellon was detained on scene without incident. During a search of the property, HCDTF Agents located 14.6 grams of Fentanyl, 4.6 grams of Methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging materials, a firearm, and a Billy Club. Based on evidence located on scene, Jackson and Mellon were arrested on the following charges:

- PC 29800(a)(1)- Felon in possession of a firearm
- PC 30305(a)(1)- Felon in possession of ammunition
- H&S 11366.5- Maintaining a residence for narcotics use
- H&S 11377(a)- Possession of controlled substances
- H&S 11364(a)- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Kathlene Mellon
- H&S 11370.1(a)- Possession of a controlled substance while armed
- H&S 11351- Possession for sale of controlled substances
- H&S 11366.5- Maintaining a residence for narcotics use
- H&S 11377(a)- Possession of controlled substances
- H&S 11364(a)- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- PC 29800(a)(1)- Felon in possession of a firearm
- PC 30305(a)(1)- Felon in possession of ammunition
