God only knows how this happened, but earlier today CenterArts Cal Poly Humboldt Presents announced the lineup for this year’s sprawling Lumberjack Weekend, the school’s annual homecoming celebration, which, from LoCO’s vantage point, feels bigger than ever this time out.

Let’s get around to some highlights. The four day-long event features a performance by ‘90s Bay Area rapper E-40, a Lumberjack-themed drag show, a “dazzling drone show by Skyworx,” various dinners and mixers, and a block party headlined by none other than the Mike Love-led version of The Beach Boys. 

If you’d like to be true to your school, Lumberjack Weekend will be held this year Oct. 17 to 20. Wouldn’t it be nice if LoCO gave you the full rundown of events? Don’t worry, baby. Here they are:

Lumberjack Weekend Block Party

Join us for the 2024 Lumberjack Weekend Block Party, featuring The Beach Boys as our headliner, followed by a dazzling drone show by Skyworx! Enjoy a variety of food trucks and beverages, with beer and wine available for those with valid ID. The Beach Boys, led by founding member Mike Love, have profoundly influenced the music industry, blending their iconic sound with decades of evolution. From their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction to the release of timeless albums like Pet Sounds, they continue to captivate audiences.  

Doors Open at 4:00 pm with the sounds of DJ Funky T-Rex. The Beach Boys start at 6:00 pm

Forever Humboldt Arcata Marsh Walk

Join Forever Humboldt in learning about the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary during a short guided walk. Located at the north end of Humboldt Bay, the sanctuary is situated along the Pacific Flyway, a major migratory route for thousands of birds that breed in the far north and winter in California, Mexico, and Central and South America. The sanctuary is 307 acres, including freshwater marshes, salt marsh, tidal sloughs, grassy uplands, mudflats, brackish marsh, and an interpretive center.

This hosted guided walk will begin at the parking lot on G Street nearest the Interpretive Center. Breakfast bagels from Los Bagels will be provided.
