Several hundred people rallied at the Humboldt County Courthouse in Eureka on Saturday for another massive demonstration against President Donald Trump and his administration.

It was a joyous scene in downtown Eureka, as demonstrators waved colorful, handmade signs at honking passersby and sang protest songs led by the Penner Sisters Harmonic Howl. The sprawling crowd wrapped around the courthouse, stretching along both sides of Fifth Street.

The protest was one of more than 700 “Hands Off!” demonstrations planned for Saturday, according to the 50501 Movement — 50 states, 50 protests, one day — a grassroots movement born on social media in opposition to what it calls the “anti-democratic and illegal actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies.”
