Wadi Torres, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024,
surrounded by loved ones. Born Guadalupe Delgado on May 28, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, to
Julio and Enriqueta Delgado. Wadi lived a life filled with adventure, love, and a zest for life.
Wadi, with her adventurous spirit, embraced the unknown. After completing nursing school, she
embarked on a cross-country journey to Los Angeles in 1965. There, she met her husband of 53
years, Duane Torres, and they began their family.
In 1973, the family moved to Humboldt County, where Wadi fell deeply in love with the redwood forests and the rugged coastline. She thrived in the community, forging lasting friendships and embracing the outdoors. Her passions included horseback riding, motorcycle trips with Duane, camping adventures with family and friends, and exploring the world, from the Parisian cafes to the Mayan ruins of Guatemala.
Wadi dedicated her professional life to caring for others. As a LVN at Humboldt State University’s Student Health Center for 20 years, she provided compassionate care to countless students.
In retirement, Wadi’s creative spirit blossomed. Known for her intricate jewelry and themed boxes, she became a cherished member of the local arts and crafts community. Despite facing the challenges of rheumatoid arthritis, Wadi maintained a positive outlook and a vibrant spirit.
Wadi is survived by her loving husband, Duane Torres; their three children, Essence, Sarah, and Ben; grandchildren Griffin Roden and Rio Garland; and a wide circle of family and friends. Please join the Torres Family and Friends in a celebration of Wadi Torres’ life on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Trinidad Town Hall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
