Food for People will provide emergency food distributions to communities affected by the MP18 fire and related road closures in Eastern Humboldt.

For communities who have been cut off by the closure of Hwy. 96, Food for People will provide Emergency Food Distributions on Thursday in:

●​ Weitchpec (Tribal Office Parking Lot 23001 CA 96): from 12:00–1:00 p.m.

●​ Orleans (Karuk Senior Center Parking Lot 459 Asip Rd): from 12:30–1:30 p.m.

Distributions will continue while supplies last and will include a combination of fresh produce, perishable foods, and non-perishable items. To limit residents’ exposure to poor air conditions,

Thursday’s distributions will be limited to approximately one hour. Residents seeking food assistance are encouraged to arrive as close to the distribution start time as possible. Supplies will be limited.

Food for People’s regular Mobile Produce Pantry schedule will also serve this region, weather and fire conditions permitting, on the following dates:

●​ Willow Creek (Dream Quest Thrift Parking Lot, 100 Country Club Dr.): Wednesday, August 19, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

●​ Weitchpec (Tribal Office Parking Lot 23001 CA 96): Tuesday, August 25, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (rescheduled distribution)

●​ Orleans (Karuk Senior Center Parking Lot 459 Asip Rd): : Tuesday, August 25, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (rescheduled distribution)

●​ Hoopa (Hoopa Shopping Center Parking Lot 12509, CA-96): Wednesday, August 26, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

All distributions are subject to cancellation or shortened hours depending on fire and air quality conditions. Food for People will notify residents if there is a cancellation or change in times.
