Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On August 20, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 27-year-old McKinleyville resident John Davis IV in connection with the robbery of the Shell Gas Station on Central Avenue in McKinleyville, which occurred on August 19, 2026.

Following the robbery, deputies conducted extensive follow-up investigation, including reviewing surveillance footage, conducting probation searches, interviewing witnesses, and collecting evidence related to the incident. Through these investigative efforts, Davis was identified as the suspect. 

Davis was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the following charges:

  • P.C. 211 – Robbery
  • P.C. 1203.2 – Violation of Probation
