Press release from the California Highway Patrol:

On Friday, August 21, 2026, Officers with the California Highway Patrol Humboldt Area office in conjunction with Officers from the California Highway Patrol Northern Division Investigative Services Unit, served a warrant at a residence on Highway 36, within the unincorporated town of Alton. The warrant was related to a reckless driving investigation. Pursuant to the warrant, three vehicles were impounded, per California Vehicle Code 14602.7(a). The impounded vehicles are believed to have been utilized during multiple reckless driving incidents. This is an active investigation and anyone with further information is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol Humboldt Area office.
