Brenda Gail Caywood, born on July 14, 1953 in Mossyrock, Wash., passed away on June 26, 2026 in Arcata, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved daughter of Chris and Margie Caywood, who along with brothers Leroy and Marvin Caywood and her cherished daughter Michelle Miller and several other relatives predeceased her. Brenda’s legacy continues through her devoted siblings Shirley McKinney, Chrystal Brown, Ron and Ken Caywood, and her treasured grandchildren Trevor Graham, Nichole and Alexa Dominquez and Zachariah Miller, who she raised. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren and several cherished nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Blue Lake Elementary and Arcata High School, Brenda dedicated herself to a fulfilling career that spanned several roles. She spent years working at Yakima, served as a teacher’s aide at Blue Lake Elementary and provided security services at Simpson Timber. Her career choices reflected her commitment to her community and her desire to be of service to others.

Brenda was an active member of the Faith Center in Eureka, where she formed deep and lasting friendships. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she found great joy in Sunday worship service especially when shared with her sister Shirley, nephew Aaron and dear friend Loretta.

Nature was Brenda’s sanctuary, and she found peace and happiness at the beach and in the great outdoors. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her family and friends. Brenda’s loyalty was unmatched, and she cherished every moment spent with those she held dear.

Her family fondly remembers her caring nature and her unwavering love for God. They find solace in their belief that their family chain though now missing another vital link, will one day be reunited, in the afterlife.

A celebration to honor Brenda’s life will be held at Blue Lake Grange on October 24, 2026, with a time to follow.

As her family mourns the loss of a beloved sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, they take comfort knowing that Brenda’s spirit will forever be with them, her warmth, kindness and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
