Press release from the University Police Department:

On Monday, Aug. 31, officers with the Cal Poly Humboldt University Police Department arrested 43-year-old Delos Moore following a report of a sexual assault that occurred in the Hinarr Hu Moulik  residence hall.  Moore is a Cal Poly Humboldt student who is a resident of Hinarr Hu Moulik.

Moore was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked for violations of Penal Code 243.4 (Sexual Battery) and Penal Code 236 (False Imprisonment). Moore has since been released on $35,000  bail. Despite being issued a restraining emergency protective order, which requires him to stay away from Hinarr Hu Moulik, Moore returned to his room and was arrested by UPD for violating the restraining order.

This investigation is ongoing. If you have any additional information regarding this case, please contact UPD at (707) 826-5555 or 5555 from any campus landline. In case of an emergency, dial 911.

Crime Safety Tips

In response to this incident, the University is providing the following prevention and awareness tips to all members of our campus community

  • Ensure you have explicit and affirmative consent before engaging in any sexual activity. Affirmative Consent means an informed, affirmative, conscious, voluntary, and mutual agreement to engage in sexual activity.
  • If you see or are concerned about harm happening to someone, use bystander intervention techniques to help: Direct, Distract, and Delegate.

    • Direct – Directly addressing the situation.
    • Distract – Making a simple (or elaborate) distraction to diffuse the situation.
    • Delegate – Finding someone else to help address the concern.
  • Trust your instincts. If a situation or location feels unsafe or uncomfortable, consider leaving the area if you can.
