Press release from the City of Eureka:

Eureka, CA – The City of Eureka will be performing emergency work to repair a damaged traffic detection sensor located near the intersection of Harris and S Street. The work will commence at 10 a.m., August 5, 2026 and will last approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Eastbound Harris Street will be temporarily closed at R Street with detour routes in affect to safely navigate the closure. Westbound Harris Street will not be affected.

Harris Avenue is a heavily-travelled route within the City and the safety of pedestrians, motorist and construction workers are important. Please use alternate routes if possible, slow down, and be careful. The patience and cooperation of motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians in the vicinity of the work zone is greatly appreciated
