James
“Jim” Guy
August
19, 1947 - January 14, 2026
James “Jim” Guy, 78, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born and raised in Eureka by his parents, Kenneth and Barbara Guy. He graduated from Eureka High School and continued his education at the College of the Redwoods before earning his degree from Humboldt State University.
It was there that he met his wife, Carol. They were married on July 11, 1970, in Ferndale and shared more than five decades together.
Jim spent many years working in purchasing and electrical sales at Campton Electric, where he was respected for his strong work ethic, reliability and the relationships he built over the years.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jim was a devoted supporter of his children’s sporting events and later could be found cheering from the sidelines at his grandchildren’s games.
He played basketball and softball but had a special love for golf. He spent many hours on the courses at Baywood, Beau Pre and the “Muni” Golf Course, and especially enjoyed participating in the Twilight Friday Night League.
Jim also gave back to the community through sports, playing on the Campton Electric softball team, coaching local women’s softball teams, and helping maintain the local Babe Ruth baseball field.
Above all else, Jim was a devoted husband to Carol, a proud father to Kevin Guy (Julie), Brad Guy (Shantelle), and Keri Youkey (Brian), and a loving grandfather to Brayden, Haylee, and Madison Youkey, and Grayson and Ava Guy.
As a lifelong resident of Eureka and a familiar face to many in the community. Jim valued the friendships he built, and was deeply devoted to his family and the simple things he enjoyed most.
He will be deeply missed.
