Press release from the Eureka Police Department:

On July 19, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department (EPD) responded to the 300 block of E Street for a report of a female in crisis who was on the roof of a building. Upon arrival, officers located the female sitting on the edge of the roof with her legs dangling over the side. Officers immediately secured the area and requested additional resources.

Due to the nature and complexity of the incident, personnel from the City of Eureka’s mobile crisis team (CARE), the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team, a Mental Health Officer (MIST) from the Community Safety Engagement Team (CSET), Humboldt Bay Fire, and City Ambulance responded to assist. After approximately four hours of negotiations, the female voluntarily came down from the roof. She was medically evaluated at the scene and was transported to a local medical facility for further care.
