“Jim” Charles Tupper was born on October 7, 1942 to Charles and Muriel Tupper in Bremerton, Washington.

As a child, Jim‘s family moved to Humboldt County, where he grew up with his three siblings — Margie, Tom and Hal. He attended school in Rohnerville and Fortuna. Jim enjoyed playing school baseball and football. He loved to take you on a drive and reminisce about growing up and working in the area. He would speak of all the families and friends he had come to know over the years, where he played as a child and of course raising his precious family.

He thoroughly enjoyed his decades working for General Motors. Perhaps you met him while working with his friends at Patton Chevrolet or Timberland in Fortuna, or at Opie’s in McKinleyville. He loved bringing the guys at work a box of donuts. Jim was known by all for taking you to Cinnamon Jacks and other places for a cup of coffee and a sweet treat.  Fondly remembered by his many friends for his generous hospitality, he was always inviting you out to dinner or welcoming you into his home.

January 12,1975 was the most important day in Jim‘s life as he became a dedicated and baptized witness of Jehovah God. He was known by all as a kind, patient, hardworking and loving Shepherd in the congregation for more than four decades. “It’s all about love”, he would say, and he lived by that. “I never heard him say a bad word about anyone,” Irene shared.

On August 24, 1996 Jim married the love of his life, Irene, who says “he was the best husband.” They spent the last few years of his life working side by side as pioneers in their ministry work. Jim firmly believed in the promise to be resurrected on a paradise earth, found in Revelation 21:4. His greatest joy was to share that hope with others. This hope also gives Irene, family, and friends great comfort. 

Jim fell asleep in death on May 26, 2026, at his home in Ferndale, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his father Charles, mother Muriel, brother Hal, and son Brandon. He is survived by his dear wife Irene, his sister Margie Kemp, and brother Tom (Kathy) Tupper. His children: James, Kimberly (Bobby) Key, John (Marie), Rhonda (Curt) Garnrick, Brian, Melissa and Crystal (Shiloh) Dent. His blessings include 25 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild along with many nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be dearly missed by them all.
