William F. Thorington
Jan. 17, 1948 through May 5, 2026

Bill had been suffering with a failing heart for many years now but was still doing his best to live his life to the fullest. The last six months were a downward spiral, and he passed over at St. Joe’s with his wife and his sister by his side. We’d like to thank the staff at St. Joe’s Providence ICU and also to Kathy of Goble’s Mortuary for the excellent and caring service.

While Bill was born in Merced, once he saw the beauty of Humboldt County he moved here and never looked for anywhere else to live. Bill was an adventurer who loved hiking, skiing, scuba diving, hunting, flying, going to the NHRA races and generally enjoying living. He was a banker then a financial consultant to fund all those hobbies. His biggest hobby was cooking — gourmet cooking.

Bill is survived by his sister, Chaplain Lucinda Gunn, and his wife, Susan Campbell.

There will be a celebration of life on June 27 starting at 2 p.m. at the Stealing Wild Ranch, 821 Tompkins Hill Road. Please call or text Lucinda at 707-601-9206 or Susan at 707-498-9680 for more information … and so we can take a head count and be prepared.
