George Woodrow Bell passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026 in Eureka after a lingering illness.
He was born on January 5, 1940, in Baraboo, Wisconsin. George grew up in the village of North Freedom, Wisconsin.
After graduating from Baraboo High School, Class of 1957, he joined the Navy. He served on the USS Los Angeles in the port of Long Beach. He loved the warm weather and did not miss shoveling snow. After his discharge, he enrolled at Long Beach State. He graduated from West Coast University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He started his career at Autonetics in Anaheim, where he met his future wife, Susan. They were married on April 6, 1963 and had just celebrated their 63rd anniversary.
George ended his carrier at Interstate Electronic, Anaheim, as a branch manager. After retirement, they moved to Eureka and spent 30 years living among the redwoods.
George is survived by his wife, Susan, son Richard and granddaughter Samantha, and son Roger, sisters Judy (& Mike) Manus, Nancy (& Bob) Weiman and brother-in-law Jeff Sederstrom. He is predeceased by his parents, Woodrow and Faye Bell, and his sister Mary Sederstrom.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Triumphant Life Camp through First Covenant Church. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 1 p.m. at First Covenant Church, 2526 J Street, Eureka, CA 95501. Service will also be live streamed on YouTube.
