Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services (OES), in partnership with the National Weather Service, PG&E, and other local, state, and regional agencies, will host four community meetings focused on flood preparedness, evacuation readiness, and the County’s Know Your Zone program.

The informational meetings are intended to help residents prepare for potential flooding and other winter storm-related emergencies. Attendees will learn about pre-flooding preparedness and safety, evacuation procedures, County alert and warning systems, evacuation zones, and ways to stay informed before and during an emergency.

Representatives from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office will participate alongside personnel from the National Weather Service, PG&E, Caltrans, Humboldt Community Organizations Active in Disaster, and other local and State agencies.

Preparing before an emergency occurs can help residents respond more effectively and safely when conditions change. Humboldt County OES encourages community members to attend one of these meetings and take advantage of the information and resources available to help prepare for the upcoming winter season. If you are unable to attend in person, the meetings will also be streamed on Facebook live.
