Mom was born April 1, 1930, in Klamath to Charles and Emma Gibbens and passed away October 1, 2026, in Eureka. Mom was the 12th of their 16 children and the final surviving member of that generation. She was 96 years old.

She is survived by 4 of her children: sons Stanley (Terri) Meyers of Windsor Calif., Eric (Sunshine Tonne’) Meyers of Kellyville, Okla. and daughters April Meyers of Redlands, Calif. and Roxane {Meyers) Bessette of Loleta; grandchildren Brett and Justin Leonardo, Melanie (Leonardo) Greener; Rachael Tena-Gomez; Janelle Meyers, Kendall (Meyers) Hegab, Layne Meyers; Erica (Meyers) Martin, Tyler Meyers; Taylor, Chad and Lance Montilepre. Mom had 12 great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild on the way. She’s also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

Mom was preceded in death by our dad, Lawrence Meyers, in 1959. She married our stepdad, Henry Lorenzo, in 1961, and they were married for 50 years at the time of his death in 2011. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marcella (Meyers) Leonardo Warshauer, in 2014 and her son-in-law, Rick Bessette, in 2018.

Mom had many stories and adventures from growing up at the mouth of the Klamath River with her 15 brothers and sisters. She taught us, in her words, to have a healthy fear of the ocean. Mom loved to garden, host their weekly card games, and play her baby grand piano. She was often seen walking all over town in Ferndale with her sister, Ruthe Tarelli. Mom was a kind soul, and family was very precious to her.

Our family would like to thank the doctors and support staff at Eureka Rehabilitation and Wellness Center for their compassionate care, with a special nod to Patty.

A celebration of life will be held at Roxane’s home in Loleta on October 24, 2026 at 1 p.m. Please bring a dish and your favorite memories of our mom to share.
