Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On October 27, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Broadway in Eureka for an observed traffic violation. The driver, identified as Thomas Grzymski Sr., 48, was found to be on felony probation with a general search and seizure clause. Shortly after the stop, deputies assigned to HCSO’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team arrived to assist with the investigation.

During a search of Grzymski and his vehicle, deputies located suspected fentanyl and other drug paraphernalia. Grzymski was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for narcotics-related charges.

Following the arrest, POP Team deputies initiated a follow-up investigation into Grzymski’s probation status. Through collaboration with the Humboldt County Probation Department, deputies identified his primary residence in the 3500 block of Allard Avenue in Eureka.

Deputies subsequently conducted a probation search at the residence, where they seized additional suspected narcotics and firearms. As a result of the investigation, additional charges were added to Grzymski’s booking, including Health and Safety Code section 11395(b)(1), and Penal Code sections 29800(a)(1) and 30305(a)(1).

The investigation highlights the mission of HCSO’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team: proactively addressing criminal activity, improving neighborhood safety, and working to resolve ongoing public safety and quality-of-life concerns. POP Team deputies focus on identifying and investigating criminal activity that impacts local communities, holding offenders accountable, and collaborating with partner agencies to address problems that require sustained attention and enforcement.

HCSO recognizes that effective public safety is a shared responsibility. Community engagement and public reporting are critical to the success of these efforts. Information provided by residents can help deputies identify emerging crime trends, develop investigative leads, and address criminal activity that may otherwise go unreported. HCSO encourages community members to report suspicious activity and share information about suspected criminal conduct so law enforcement can respond proactively and work toward safer neighborhoods.

Reporting can be made confidentially at the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip Line, (707) 268-2539.
