Frances Joyce Sutton Dollar passed away on September 20, 2026, at Battle Creek Memory Care in Salem, Oregon, with her daughter, Daelene, by her side. She was 79 years old.

Known to everyone as Joyce, she was born in St. Helens, Oregon, the third child of Gillis and Louise Sutton. She grew up in St. Helens and married her high school sweetheart, Richard Dollar, in 1965. They shared 49 years of marriage before Richard’s sudden death in 2014.

Joyce and Richard later moved to Eureka, where they raised their three children, Steven, Daelene and Shawn. Joyce worked for many years at Northwestern Mutual with the late Paul Nicklas and also enjoyed working at her children’s schools.

Joyce was known for her generous heart, loving spirit and warm hospitality. She loved entertaining family and friends, was an excellent cook, and was especially known for her shrimp cocktails. She enjoyed sporting events with her children, concerts and plays with her grandchildren, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She faithfully attended Faith Center in Eureka and loved sharing God’s goodness with others.

Most important to Joyce was her strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She spent time daily in prayer and trusted Him through both joyful and difficult seasons. Singing and listening to worship music was a highlight throughout her life and brought joy and peace to her heart, even as her health declined. As dementia affected her later years, she continued to bring kindness and laughter to those around her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at home with Jesus.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; and her brother, Melvin Sutton.

She is survived by her children, Steve and wife Joyce Dollar, Daelene Dollar Brockmann and husband Ron, and Shawn Dollar; sister Dorothy Sutton Graybill and husband Bill; brother Dr. John Sutton and wife Cecelia; sister-in-law Sharon Sutton; grandchildren Jaydin and Brandon Brockmann, and Julia, Johnny and Jake Dollar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Centerpointe Community Church in Eureka. A family burial at Oceanview Cemetery will take place prior to the service. Sanders Funeral Home in Eureka is handling arrangements.
