Elsie Marie Berti, 92, passed away on September 26, 2026, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born on January 30, 1934, in Eureka to John and Rose (Startare) Losa.
After graduating from high school, Elsie attended Eureka Business College. In 1957, she married Francis Marion Carsner, and together they had three children: Bill, John, and Bernadine.
Elsie worked for 37 years as a bookkeeper and office manager at Humboldt Creamery. She also devoted 21 years to volunteering at St. Joseph Hospital. Following Francis’s passing in 1981, Elsie married John Berti in 1983. They enjoyed traveling, taking photographs, and making new friends.
Elsie loved watching game shows, working in her garden, and attending movies with her friends. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and sang in the church choir in Eureka.
In 2021, Elsie relocated to Mountain Home, Arkansas, where she lived with her daughter, Bernadine, and son-in-law, Michael. During her years in Arkansas, she enjoyed boating, playing cards and games, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved watching the hummingbirds from the windows, and Bernadine made sure the feeders were always full.
Elsie is survived by her son, John (Linda) Carsner of Eureka; daughter, Bernadine (Michael) Brinkmeier; sister, Frances (Rene) Gauthier; grandchildren Alicia (Raul) Dominguez, Kelly (Justin) Gibbs, Tami (Andre) McBride, John (Sheila) Caudle, McKayla (Kyle) Huntley, and Megan Boyd; and great-grandchildren Lexlyn, Gracelyn, Evelyn, Alexander, Rayce, Rowdy, Charlie Ann, and Allessa. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose Losa; husbands, Francis Carsner and John Berti; son, Bill Carsner; brother, Richard Losa; and sister, Virginia Losa.
Services were held at Promised Land Bible Church in Arkansas. In accordance with Elsie’s wishes, she will be interred at Ocean View Cemetery in Eureka.
A celebration of life will be held on October 23, 2026, at 2 p.m. at 1911 Quaker Street, Eureka.
