Wanda Lynn was born on June 16, 1964 to Johnny and Betty Sue Northrup in Alturas. She was the second of four children, helping to raise her younger brothers. Much of her childhood years were spent taking care of household chores, thus learning early to become a housewife and mother.

Lynn moved to McKinleyville in 1990 with her son, Adam, attaining her GED and attending nursing school at College of the Redwoods. She had to leave the program unfinished to homeschool her son.

Lynn worked many years in the medical field until cancer slowed her down in 2010. She had been a nurses’ aide, phlebotomist, medical assistant and certified doula/midwife.

Lynn married Glenn Williamson Jr. on March 1, 1997. They had 29 years together and were very active in the ministry at Church of the Light in McKinleyville until its closing in 2022. They then transferred their talents and abilities to the Wesleyan Church of the Redwoods, also in McKinleyville and later to Arcata First Baptist Church.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Glenn; her son, Adam Northrup and his wife, Marisol; four grandchildren; her brother, Danny Northrup; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends who loved her very much.

Lynn was first diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and fought the hard up and down battles for 16 years. She needed to take many trips to UCSF for surgeries and treatments Many friends pitched in to help with the transportation. Her last trip was in May for seven weeks of daily radiation.

Through all these difficult times, Lynn touched many lives with her love, compassion and strong, unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father, She shared her personal walk with Jesus Christ in wellness or in pain.

On September 1, 2026, after a brief final overnight at Mad River Hospital, her time with us was over. God graciously took her home, ceasing her pain forever. Family and friends were gathered around her ICU bedside in her final hours with singing and prayers.

A heartfelt thank you to the ER and ICU staff at Mad River Hospital for their care, patience, prayers and compassion for Lynn, Glenn and the family gathered at her side.

As per Lynn’s request there will be a memorial service to honor God in her life and the sure knowledge of life to come. This service will be at Arcata First Baptist Church on September 19, 2026 at 2 p.m. The service will be live-streamed via arcatafbc.org.

We are all blessed by knowing Wanda Lynn.
