A pretty decent little wildfire has erupted way back in the woods behind Redwood Acres this morning. At the time of this writing, firefighters have it pegged at five acres and forward progress has been stopped.
The Outpost’s Ryan Burns posted up at the Fairgrounds for a moment. He tells us that firefighters are getting to the fire via the Harris Street entrance to the McKay Tract. He saw a Humboldt Bay Fire engine turn down that way a few moments ago.
However, a Humboldt Bay firefighter tells him that this is principally a CalFire show. It’s in the state responsibility area.
At the moment, the WatchDuty app reports that firefighters have a hose line around it.
