a. Adopt Resolution Nos. 256-57, 256-58, 256-59, 256-60, and 256-61 for the City of Arcata to Elect to be Subject to the Public Employees Medical and Hospital Care Act as Part of the City’s Transition to the City Sponsored CalPERS Medical Insurance Plan.
Keira Vink from Human Resources recommends that the City Council adopt several resolutions to transition to the CalPERS Medical Insurance Plan for City of Arcata employees. The City has decided to switch to CalPERS due to the termination of their current insurance plan and the desire for more stability in the market. CalPERS offers a variety of medical plans, and all eligible employees and annuitants will be enrolled in these plans. The Council must approve the resolutions to make CalPERS the exclusive medical insurance provider for City employees and officials. The cost of the insurance will be funded by the City’s budget. The Council is advised to adopt the resolutions and authorize the City Manager to execute related documents.

Para los empleados de la ciudad
No pueden elegir otro motivo
Porque así la ley lo dictará
Esperamos que el Consejo apruebe
Las resoluciones sin dudar
Para que nuestros empleados se muevan
Con un seguro que los ayudará
Que viva la Ciudad de Arcata
Y su cuidado por los empleados
Con CalPERS, la salud resguardada
