The City has determined that the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act. A public hearing will be held to discuss and approve the project.

… or, as a nursery rhyme!

In a city called Eureka, on Russ Street so fine,
Amy Gonzalez proposed a new lodging design.
Lovely Hendricks Commercial Lodging, a dream come true,
In a two-bedroom home, with a bathroom brand new.

The Planning Commission, on this sunny day,
Reviewed the proposal to see if it would stay.
With staff reports and recommendations in hand,
They held a public hearing to discuss and understand.

The site was perfect, the use was just right,
For short-term rentals, under thirty days in sight.
No changes needed, to the house or the lot,
Just some upgrades for safety, and a parking spot.

The General Plan was followed, with care and precision,
The neighborhood’s integrity, a top priority decision.
Public safety and welfare, top of mind, of course,
Ensuring everything was up to code, with no remorse.

The Commission approved, with a resolution so grand,
Lovely Hendricks Commercial Lodging, now part of the land.
A new venture for Amy, Roan, and Benjamin too,
A place for guests to stay, with skies clear and blue.

So if you need a place to rest, in Eureka town,
Lovely Hendricks Commercial Lodging won’t let you down.
With a resolution passed, and a public hearing through,
This nursery rhyme tells you, it’s a lovely place for you!

2. General Plan Conformance Review for County Acquisition of 515 J Street Location: 515 J Street; APN: 001-193-007 Project: GPC-25-1

The Planning Commission is reviewing Humboldt County’s proposal to acquire a property at 515 J Street for a municipal office facility. The staff report recommends that the Commission approve the acquisition as it aligns with the city’s General Plan. The property is currently used by the Conflict Counsel’s Office and will potentially house other County programs in the future. The acquisition is consistent with the downtown commercial zoning and supports the city’s goals for economic development and pedestrian-friendly urban spaces. The Commission’s decision is advisory and does not affect the County’s ability to proceed with the project. The County will be responsible for any environmental assessments related to the acquisition.

… or, as an episode of Scooby Doo!

“The Mystery of the Abandoned Office Building”

The gang was driving through Humboldt County when they heard about a mysterious case involving an abandoned office building. Curious, they decided to investigate.

Upon arriving at 515 J Street, they met with Kirstie Greene, the Senior Real Property Agent for the County of Humboldt. She explained that the County had recently acquired the building for use as a municipal office facility, but strange things had been happening ever since they moved in.

The gang split up to search for clues. Scooby and Shaggy headed to the basement, where they heard ghostly moans and saw flickering lights. Velma and Daphne explored the second floor, where they found old case files scattered everywhere.

As they pieced together the clues, they realized that the building had once been a law office that handled criminal cases. They suspected that the ghostly activity was related to a past legal case that had gone wrong.

With some clever detective work, the gang uncovered the truth behind the haunting. It turned out that the former owners, Jon Stone and Larry O Doss, had been involved in a corrupt scheme to frame innocent people for crimes they didn’t commit.

The ghostly moans and flickering lights were actually a clever trick to scare off anyone who tried to uncover their secret. With the help of the Conflict Counsel’s Office, the gang was able to expose the truth and bring Jon Stone and Larry O Doss to justice.

In the end, the building was cleared of its ghostly reputation, and the County of Humboldt was able to use it for its intended purpose as a municipal office facility. As they drove away, the gang reflected on how even the most ordinary places could hide dark secrets waiting to be uncovered.
