This document is about a project called RPCA Solar 5, LLC, which is asking for an extension and modification of a permit to build a solar power facility on agriculturally zoned property in Humboldt County. The project will generate four megawatts of power and involves some changes to the original plan, such as expanding the development footprint and reducing the setback from a wetland. The Planning Commission is being asked to approve this extension with certain conditions. The project also involves considerations for environmental impact, including protecting wetlands and cultural resources.

… or, as a World War I infantryman's letter home to his sweetheart!
My Dearest Jane,
I hope this letter finds you well. As I sit here in the trenches, under heavy fire from German artillery, my thoughts are consumed by you. Your love gives me strength in the darkest of times.
I long for the day when I can hold you in my arms again, away from the horrors of war. But until then, know that you are always in my heart.
With love,
Charles

The County of Humboldt is considering a proposal to remove trees on a property in the Eureka area for fire protection purposes. The trees include redwoods and other conifers. The Planning Commission is being asked to approve a Coastal Development Permit for the tree removal, with conditions to protect certain large redwood trees. The project has been reviewed for environmental impact and has been found to be exempt from certain regulations. The proposal has also been sent to other agencies for input. The goal is to balance fire protection with the preservation of important redwood trees.

… or, as smack talk from a professional wrestler!
Listen up, Planning Commission! You think you can just come in here and approve the removal of these beautiful redwood trees without a fight? Well, think again! These trees are a vital part of our community, providing visual and cultural value that can’t be replaced. So, before you make any decisions, you better think long and hard about the consequences of your actions. Because if you choose to go down this path, you’ll have to deal with the consequences of angering not just me, but the whole community. So, make the right choice, or face the consequences.

2. Maples Tree Removal Coastal Development Permit (CDP) Record Number
The County of Humboldt is considering a request to remove eight Redwood trees on a property in the Eureka area. The trees are proposed to be removed for fire protection and to provide solar access and space for a garden. Some members of the community are concerned about the removal of these trees, which are important for the character of the area. The Planning Commission will need to balance the benefits of preserving the trees with the potential risks they pose. Before making a decision, they will consider input from various agencies and the public.

… or, as an Elizabethan sonnet!
Oh County of Humboldt, thy meeting nears,
On 9/17/2026, minds will convene,
File 26-990, with concerns and fears,
Maples Tree Removal, a sight unseen.
To Planning Commission, the issue at hand,
Eight Redwoods proposed to be cut down,
On 5177 Woodland Way, where they stand,
Diameters varying, from oak to crown.
Should these trees go, or stay and remain,
The public’s welfare hangs in the balance,
Scenic qualities, and ecological gain,
Weighed against risks, a solemn challenge.
In Eureka’s embrace, decisions must be made,
To remove or to preserve, the choice portrayed.

3. Amendments to Commercial Cannabis Indoor Cultivation Standards - Path to Enabling Indoor Cultivation in AE, AG, FR, and U zones to be permitted in newly constructed non-residential structures Assessor Parcel Numbers (APN) 000-000-000 Record No.: LRP-2026-19583 Countywide An amendment to the Commercial Cannabis Indoor Cultivation provisions of the Inland Zoning Regulations to amend subsection 314-55.4.8.1.1 to allow indoor cultivation in AE, AG, FR, and U zones to be permitted within non-resident
The county is considering allowing indoor cannabis cultivation in new non-residential buildings on specific types of zoned parcels. This would amend the current regulations that only allow cultivation in buildings constructed before January 1, 2016. The proposal is based on the lack of interest in new cultivation permits in these zones since 2018. The Planning Commission is recommended to approve the amendment after considering environmental impact and input from community agencies.
