… or, as a science-fiction story!

In the year 2026, on the outskirts of Humboldt County, a group of children and families gathered for a special meeting. They were members of the Children and Families Commission, known as the First 5 Commission. One of their beloved members, Hyun-Kyung You, was coming to the end of her term on the commission.

Hyun-Kyung You had been a dedicated and passionate member of the commission for many years. Her commitment to improving the lives of children and families in Humboldt County had not gone unnoticed. As the meeting began, the Clerk of the Board stood up to make an announcement.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great appreciation and gratitude that we recognize Hyun-Kyung You for her service on the Children and Families Commission of Humboldt County,” the Clerk announced.

The room erupted into applause as Hyun-Kyung You stood up, her eyes shining with emotion. She had dedicated countless hours to helping children in need, advocating for better services and resources for families in the county. Her work had not only made a difference in the lives of many, but it had also inspired others to do the same.

As she received a letter of appreciation from the Board of Supervisors, Hyun-Kyung You felt a sense of pride and fulfillment. She knew that her efforts had not been in vain, and that she had made a lasting impact on the community.

But little did Hyun-Kyung You know, her service on the commission was just the beginning of her journey. As she left the meeting that day, a strange light appeared in the sky. Suddenly, she found herself being lifted off the ground, surrounded by a beam of light.

As she looked down at the county below, she realized that she was being taken on a journey to a place beyond her wildest imagination. Hovering above the Earth, Hyun-Kyung You was transported to a distant planet, where she was greeted by beings unlike any she had ever seen.

It turned out that the letter of appreciation from the Board of Supervisors had caught the attention of a highly advanced alien civilization. They had been monitoring the progress of humanity from afar, and they were impressed by Hyun-Kyung You’s dedication to helping children and families.

The aliens welcomed Hyun-Kyung You with open arms, inviting her to join them in their mission to promote peace and harmony across the galaxy. And so, Hyun-Kyung You embarked on a new chapter of her life, traveling through the stars and spreading love and compassion wherever she went.

Back on Earth, the people of Humboldt County remembered Hyun-Kyung You as a true hero, a shining example of what one person can achieve with a heart full of kindness and a spirit of generosity. And as they looked up at the night sky, they knew that somewhere out there, Hyun-Kyung You was still making a difference, one small act of kindness at a time.

… or, as a romance story!

As the sun began to set over the picturesque County of Humboldt, Lucy sat in the boardroom of the County offices, her heart pounding with anticipation. She had been eagerly waiting for the Board of Supervisors meeting to begin, not because of any particular agenda item, but because she knew that he would be there.

Ever since she had first laid eyes on James, the Clerk of the Board, she had been smitten. His dark hair, piercing blue eyes, and confident demeanor had captured her heart from the moment they had met. And despite their professional relationship, she couldn’t help but feel a spark of something more between them.

As the meeting commenced, Lucy tried to focus on the agenda items at hand, but her mind kept drifting to thoughts of James. She couldn’t help but steal glances at him as he expertly led the proceedings, his voice smooth and commanding.

When it came time to vote on the approval of the Action Summary from the previous meeting, Lucy found herself holding her breath, hoping that the Board would approve it so that she could see James once again. And to her relief and delight, the recommendation passed with a majority vote.

As the meeting adjourned, Lucy gathered her things and made her way over to James, who was busy organizing his papers. Taking a deep breath, she mustered up the courage to speak to him.

“James, I just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to the Board,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

James looked up at her, a small smile playing on his lips. “Thank you, Lucy. I couldn’t do it without your support and assistance,” he replied.

Their eyes locked, and in that moment, Lucy knew that she couldn’t hold back any longer. She reached out and gently took his hand, the touch sending an electric shock through her body.

“James, there’s something I need to tell you,” she began, her heart racing with uncertainty.

But before she could continue, James placed a finger against her lips, silencing her. “I know, Lucy. I’ve felt it too,” he said softly.

And with that, James leaned in and pressed his lips to hers in a tender and passionate kiss, sealing their love in the quiet confines of the County of Humboldt boardroom. From that moment on, they knew that their romance was destined to bloom, against all odds and obstacles. And as they walked out into the fading light of the evening, hand in hand, they knew that their love would conquer all.

… or, as a Dungeons & Dragons campaign!

The adventurers in this campaign are called upon by the Board of Supervisors of Humboldt County to investigate a string of suspicious expenses reported by members of the legislative body. It seems that some of the supervisors have been claiming reimbursement for expenses that do not align with their official duties, and the total amount exceeds what is typically expected for a month.

As the party delves into the investigation, they uncover a web of corruption within the county government. The supervisors involved in the scandal have been embezzling funds for personal gain, using their positions of power to exploit the system. The party must gather evidence, confront the guilty parties, and ultimately bring them to justice.

Throughout their quest, the adventurers will face challenges such as navigating the politics of the county government, gathering testimony from witnesses, and battling minions hired by the corrupt supervisors to protect their secrets. They will need to use their skills in diplomacy, investigation, and combat to succeed in uncovering the truth and restoring integrity to Humboldt County.

In the end, the party’s actions will have a lasting impact on the county, as new leaders are appointed to replace those who have been ousted. The citizens of Humboldt County will be grateful for the party’s bravery and determination in rooting out corruption, and the adventurers will be hailed as heroes for their role in restoring trust and accountability to their community.

7. Extension of Extra-Help Hours Past the 960 Hour Limit for the County Administrative Office, 1100-103 (4/5 Vote Required)

The County Administrative Office is requesting approval from the Board of Supervisors to allow an employee, Stephanie Boers, to work more than the usual 960 hours as an extra-help employee. This extension of hours would allow her to continue providing important administrative support. The cost for this extension is estimated to be $30,208, which is already budgeted. The Board is recommended to approve this request to ensure the smooth operation of the office.

— LoCOBot

… or, as a Pokemon duel!

The battle between Boersaur and Fiscalman began in the County Administrative Office of Humboldt. Boersaur, an extra-help employee, was seeking an extension of hours beyond the 960-hour limit to continue providing administrative support to the CAO. On the other side, Fiscalman, the guardian of the General Fund, stood in opposition to the extension, concerned about the financial impact of the additional hours.

Boersaur started the duel by using her administrative skills to coordinate and schedule meetings with the CAO, showing her efficiency and organization. Fiscalman countered with his financial prowess, arguing that the extra costs associated with the extension were not accounted for in the budget.

As the battle raged on, Boersaur demonstrated her dedication and hard work, committed to supporting the Management & Budget Team. Fiscalman, however, remained steadfast in his belief that the extra-help hours should not exceed the 960-hour limit.

In the end, after a long and intense duel, the Board of Supervisors voted to approve the waiver of the 960-hour limit for Boersaur, allowing her to work an additional 790 hours and extending her employment to a maximum of 1,750 hours for FY 2025-26. Despite the financial concerns raised by Fiscalman, the Board recognized the importance of Boersaur’s role in maintaining the efficiency of office operations and approved the extension of extra-help hours.

Boersaur emerged victorious, grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting the CAO and the Management & Budget Team. And Fiscalman, although initially hesitant, acknowledged the value of Boersaur’s contributions and accepted the decision of the Board. The County Administrative Office of Humboldt continued to prosper with the support of both Boersaur and Fiscalman, working together to ensure the success of the department.

Title: The Path to Inclusion

In the County of Humboldt, a young woman named Sofia sat in her bedroom, staring at her computer screen. She had always been passionate about technology and had dreams of using her skills to make the world a better place. But as she read through the 2026 Digital Accessibility Policy, she felt a pang of guilt. She realized that her own website, which she had spent years building, was not accessible to individuals with disabilities.

Sofia knew that she had to make a change. She spent days researching accessibility standards and redesigning her website to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines. It was a challenging process, but Sofia was determined to do whatever it took to ensure that her website was inclusive to all.

As Sofia worked tirelessly on her website, she began to see the impact of her efforts. People with disabilities were now able to access her content, participate in online discussions, and engage with her work in ways they never could before. It was a humbling experience for Sofia, who realized the power of technology to break down barriers and bring people together.

Inspired by her success, Sofia decided to take her passion for digital accessibility even further. She started volunteering with local organizations to help them improve their online presence, offering her expertise in web design and accessibility. She also became an advocate for inclusive technology, speaking at conferences and writing articles to raise awareness about the importance of digital accessibility.

As Sofia continued on her journey, she faced challenges and setbacks along the way. There were times when she doubted herself and wondered if she was making a difference. But with each obstacle, Sofia grew stronger and more determined to create a more inclusive world.

Years passed, and Sofia became a respected leader in the field of digital accessibility. Her work had a profound impact on the County of Humboldt, inspiring others to follow in her footsteps and prioritize inclusivity in their own work. And as she looked back on her journey, Sofia knew that she had found her true calling – using technology to bring people together and create a more inclusive society.

The 2026 Digital Accessibility Policy may have been just a piece of legislation to some, but to Sofia, it was the catalyst for her transformative journey towards creating a more inclusive world for all. And as she continued to advocate for accessibility and inclusion, Sofia knew that the path ahead was filled with endless possibilities and opportunities to make a difference.

9. Reclassification of Public Health Nutrition Aides to Community Health Outreach Worker I/II’s

This document is a proposal to reclassify Nutrition Aide positions to Community Health Outreach Worker positions in the County of Humboldt. The reclassification is based on the need to provide services to clients outside of the clinic setting. The reclassification will have financial implications and staffing impacts. The recommendation is to approve the reclassification to improve services in the Public Health branch. The Board of Supervisors is required to vote on the proposal.

— LoCOBot

… or, as an insane conspiracy theory!

Conspiracy theorists believe that the reclassification of Nutrition Aides to Community Health Outreach Worker I/II’s in the County of Humboldt is part of a secret government plan to control the population through mind-altering substances disguised as health initiatives. They theorize that the Nutrition Aides were actually being used to distribute experimental drugs to unsuspecting citizens under the guise of nutrition assistance. By reclassifying them as Community Health Outreach Worker I/II’s, the government can further infiltrate communities and manipulate individuals for their own sinister purposes. The financial impact and staffing changes outlined in the file are seen as a cover-up for the true intentions behind this reclassification scheme. Who knows what other secrets the County of Humboldt may be hiding behind closed doors…

2. Introduction of an Ordinance Repealing Measure S Cannabis Excise Tax

The County of Humboldt is considering repealing a cannabis cultivation excise tax called Measure S due to administrative challenges and limited revenue generation. The Board of Supervisors is recommended to introduce an ordinance to repeal Measure S, set a date for adoption, and publish a summary of the ordinance. The repeal would not impact past due taxes owed by cultivators. This change would eliminate staff time and redirect resources to other priorities. The repeal would also affect future tax revenue but not past due balances. The Board could choose not to adopt the ordinance, but this would go against previous decisions.

— LoCOBot

… or, as a bedtime story!

Once upon a time in the County of Humboldt, there was a small village where the residents grew cannabis plants for their livelihood. For many years, the village had a tax in place called Measure S, which required the villagers to pay a certain amount of money based on the size of their cannabis cultivation.

But one day, the Board of Supervisors decided that it was time to repeal Measure S. They believed that the tax was no longer necessary and was causing more harm than good to the villagers. The Board of Supervisors introduced an ordinance to repeal Measure S and set a date for adoption.

As the news spread throughout the village, the villagers were both relieved and curious about what this meant for their future. Some were worried that they would have to pay even more in taxes, while others were hopeful that this would bring positive changes to their community.

On the night before the ordinance was to be adopted, the village gathered around a fire pit to discuss the changes that were about to take place. The elders of the village told stories of how Measure S had affected them over the years and how they believed that repealing it was the right decision.

As the night grew darker, the children of the village gathered around to listen to a tale of a magical plant that brought joy and healing to all who grew it. They fell asleep under the stars, dreaming of a future where they could cultivate their plants without the burden of excessive taxes.

The next day, the Board of Supervisors met to adopt the ordinance to repeal Measure S. The villagers watched from afar, holding their breath as the decision was made. And when it was finally announced that Measure S had been repealed, a cheer erupted from the village.

From that day on, the villagers lived in peace and harmony, free to grow their plants without the weight of unnecessary taxes. And as the years passed, the village thrived, thanks to the wisdom and compassion of the Board of Supervisors.

And so, the bedtime story of the County of Humboldt and the repeal of Measure S became a tale of hope and progress for generations to come. The end.
