A Vehicle Doing Donuts Crashed Into A Power Pole, and THAT’S Why McK Just Lost Power

UPDATE, 10:15 a.m.: The fires are out, as per scanner traffic. Also, the ambulance has been released.
PG&E is showing 2,731 customers without power.

People are messaging us about a power outage in McKinleyville. Also, our web traffic is spiking, so we’re guessing that it’s a fairly good-sized power outage.
This is NOT because of the (probable) planned public safety power shutdown this weekend. This is because a carful of people doing donuts crashed into a power pole near the corner of Miller Lane and Heindon Road.
The crash has also caused several little fires where the line went down. Arcata Fire is en route. Also paramedics.
