Traffic Collision With McKinleyville Power Pole, Fire Hydrant Leaves Geyser at Central and Airport; One Man Taken to Hospital
A traffic collision near the intersection of Central Avenue and Airport Road in McKinleyville has sent one man to the hospital and left a damaged power pole at a fire hydrant gusher at the scene.
Outpost Trinidad Bureau Chief Ted Pease, reporting from the scene, tells us that the man involved in the accident appeared to be shaken up, but was moving under his own power before Arcata Fire paramedics loaded him into the ambulance.
CHP dispatch tells officers that power lines are hanging low at the site. Updates below.
