(UPDATE) Airplane Crash Reported Near Dinsmore; Forest Service Personnel Battling Fire
LoCO’s CHP Watch is reporting that a plane has crashed near the Dinsmore Airport out Highway 36.
Reached by phone, Jeremy Ward, a battalion chief with Cal Fire, said that US Forest Service personnel in the area are dealing with a small fire associated with the crash. Cal Fire is being dispatched to the scene and Ward said he believed they had sufficient resources to extinguish the blaze.

UPDATE, 2:56 p.m.: The Sheriff’s Office says, via Twitter, that there were no survivors in the crash, but it’s not yet clear how many people are deceased.

Just before 1 p.m., HCSO’s Samantha Karges emailed us with some additional details about the incident:
At about 11:54 a.m., the HCSO Emergency Communications Center received a call regarding a small aircraft crash near the Dinsmore Airport. HCSO deputies, in addition to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, and Fire Personnel are on scene. The is currently a full closure of Highway 36 near the airport due to the emergency response.
Total number of passengers and extent of injuries are unconfirmed at this time.
