###

Big snow has shut down Highway 299 between the coast and Willow Creek, as of a few moments ago. It’s snowed in.

Other highway updates as of this writing (12:55 p.m., Tuesday):

  • Highway 36 near Grizzly Creek due to a slide.
  • Highway 199 is open, but commercial vehicles must use chains.
  • Highway 101 is open.

Updates from the CHP on the 299 closure can be found below. Here’s another little indicator you can use, in the future hours: If you see a STOP sign in the map below, this closure is still in effect.

By 14:30, original big rigs caught in the closure were identified, with multiple vehicles needing assistance.
