Gregory Wayne Mobley 1959-2025
Gregory Wayne Mobley (1959-2025)
With profound love and cherished memories, we remember Gregory (Greg) Wayne Mobley, of Climax Springs, MO who peacefully departed this world on November 8, 2025, at the age of 66, surrounded by the warmth and love of his devoted family. Greg faced his battle with cancer with remarkable strength and resilience. Born on May 7, 1959, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Mary Lou and Melvin, Greg’s journey led him to the sun-kissed shores of Huntington Beach, California, at the tender age of five, where he developed a lifelong love for the ocean. One would often find him pedaling to the shore with a surfboard in tow, spending the day riding the waves until sunset.
After completing high school in California, Greg ventured to Kansas City in his early twenties. There, he met his wife Nancy of 15 years and together they nurtured a family, raising three beautiful children, Derek, Ashley and Megan. Greg eventually found his “little slice of heaven” at the Lake of the Ozarks where he met his partner of 23 years, Lorri Davis. Amid pastoral hills and sweeping, colorful views, his gentle presence and generous heart touched everyone who met him.
Affectionately known as “Walkin’ Stick Greg,” he was a gifted and joyful soul: a master carpenter and craftsman, artist, painter, designer, actor, musician, and showman. He delighted audiences with fire-eating and magic, often performing shows on the beach in California with his quirky iguana with red-painted toenails, Puff the Magic Dragon. Greg’s love of music began at the age of 12 with his first guitar and blossomed into a lifelong pursuit across bands and stages from the West Coast to the Midwest. He played many musical instruments yet his greatest passion was playing the bass. He had an artist’s eye for beauty in the everyday and a magician’s gift for bringing wonder into people’s lives.
Greg is lovingly remembered by his long-time partner, Lorri Davis, and their dog, Bindi; his mother, Mary Lou Mobley (Duane); son Derek Mobley; daughter Megan Mobley (Cory) and granddaughter Charlize; daughter Ashley Mobley Osia (Kenny) and grandlizard Topanga; his aunt Claudia Lantry; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Mobley, and his beloved dog, Gene Simmons.
A celebration of Greg’s vibrant life will take place on Tuesday, December 23, at Climax Springs Assembly Church, 363 Climax Ave, Climax Springs, MO, 65324 beginning at 11:00 AM. Let us gather to honor a life filled with creativity, love, and laughter.
