COVID REPORT: Another Granada Resident Dies, 26 New Cases Confirmed, Joint Information Center Says

Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

The thirteenth COVID-related death was reported today along with 26 additional cases of the virus. The total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus now stands at 1,321.

The individual who died was in their 80s and a resident of Granada Rehabilitation and Wellness Center at the time of their death. Public Health staff extends their condolences to the friends and loved ones of this person.

Today, Humboldt County surpassed the 50,000 COVID-19 test mark. This milestone is a testament to local efforts to build testing capacity and the willingness of community residents to protect their families and neighbors by getting tested for COVID-19. Testing continues to be an important tool to track virus transmission and catch cases early to prevent further exposures.

And testing options are expanding. OptumServe is offering testing to areas outside of Eureka this week. The remainder of the week’s schedule is as follows:

  • Fortuna - Wednesday, Dec. 16 – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Fortuna River Lodge Conference Center 1800 Riverwalk Dr.
  • Hoopa - Thursday, Dec. 17 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - 12482, Highway 96
  • McKinleyville - Friday, Dec. 18 – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Azalea Hall 1620 Pickett Rd.

Scheduling an appointment is the best way to determine test availability. To schedule a no-cost appointment:
