Another Alder Bay Caregiver Tests Positive, Bringing Humboldt’s Total Confirmed Case Count to 68

From the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

Humboldt County’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is now 68 as one additional positive was confirmed today.

Testing conducted by the Public Health Branch at Alder Bay Assisted Living found one person who provided care at the facility has become positive for the virus. Ongoing testing of staff and residents will continue.

Contact investigations determined one previous case was acquired through travel outside of the area, and another was acquired through community transmission.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said, “Travel will be an ongoing concern, but the virus is here in Humboldt County and circulating in our community. We should all continue to practice social distancing and other measures that can decrease transmission risk as businesses start to reopen.” Two cases remain under investigation.
