COVID REPORT: Six New Cases Confirmed Today, Joint Information Center Says; Humboldt Remains in ‘Yellow’ Tier
Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:
Six new cases of COVID-19 were reported today, bringing to 592 the total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus.
The California Department of Public Health today updated county tier assignments under the state’s “Blueprint for a Safer Economy.” The county remains in the “yellow” tier due to meeting the Health Equity Metric while having positivity and case rates under 2. This tier assignment reflects data through the week ending Oct. 24.
Humboldt County was assigned to the yellow tier when confirmed cases were relatively stable at one or two daily. Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich cautioned that recent case rates are on an upward trend.
“It is important for us to remember that a relatively small daily increase in cases can move us into the orange tier, significantly impacting our business community,” Dr. Frankovich said. “As we experience colder weather and spend increasing time indoors where transmission occurs more easily, it is vital that we use all prevention measures possible to keep each other safe.”
