COVID REPORT: Ninety-Three (93) New Cases Confirmed Since Friday, Joint Information Center Says

Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

A total of 2,124 county residents have tested positive for COVID-19, after 93 new cases were reported today.

Humboldt County Public Health and Emergency Operations Center staff are in the process of scheduling vaccinations for all remaining Phase 1A health care providers. Health Officer Dr. Ian Hoffman said that while implementing early phases of vaccine distribution has presented challenges, the county is making steady progress. “We are continuing to build relationships with providers and strengthen existing relationships with others to get this vaccine out to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible,” he said.

Dr. Hoffman went on to say those who are in Phase 1A and work in health care practices or offices that have not scheduled vaccinations should reach out to the Joint Information Center at 707-441-5000 for more information.

Guidelines have not yet been released by the state for Phase 1B, which will focus on people over the age of 75.

The daily and weekly datasets have been updated on the Humboldt County Data Dashboard. Some highlights include:

  • The county’s confirmed case rate stands at 1,593 per 100,000 residents. Both the state and national rates are more than four times higher at 6,760 and 6,804 per 100,000 residents respectively.
  • Confirmed cases have increased by 9.6% over the last week.
  • The case doubling time is now 41.5 days.
  • Just over 26% of cases have been confirmed in the 20-29 age group, the highest percentage of any group.
