ANIL DWIVEDI ANNOUNCES MAYORAL SALARY PLEDGE, 12 MONTH HOMELESSNESS ACTION PLAN AND CALL FOR PUBLIC DEBATE

EUREKA, CALIFORNIA: Eureka mayoral candidate Anil Dwivedi has announced three major campaign commitments centered on service, accountability and giving Eureka voters a clear opportunity to compare the candidates for Mayor.

1. 100% OF MAYORAL SALARY TO BE DONATED

Dwivedi has pledged that, when elected Mayor of Eureka, he will donate 100% of his mayoral salary to local nonprofits and individuals experiencing genuine financial hardship.

Dwivedi said the pledge reflects his belief that his campaign is about public service rather than personal financial benefit. He intends for the donations to be handled through a transparent and lawful process.

“I am not running for Mayor for a paycheck. I am running because I believe Eureka needs action, accountability and leadership focused on results. When elected, I will donate 100% of my mayoral salary back into the community to help people and organizations that genuinely need it.”

2. STEP BY STEP HOMELESSNESS PLAN: FIRST 12 MONTHS

Dwivedi has also outlined a structured plan to begin addressing homelessness immediately after taking office, with measurable action during his first year.

His proposal begins with a comprehensive assessment during the first 30 days to better understand who is experiencing homelessness in Eureka and the different circumstances keeping people on the streets.

Rather than treating homelessness as a single problem with a single solution, the plan calls for identifying individual needs and connecting people with appropriate responses, including housing assistance, mental health and substance use treatment, rehabilitation, employment assistance, education and training, nonprofit services, and family reunification when appropriate.

During the first 60 days, Dwivedi wants the City to begin coordinating aggressively with service providers, nonprofits, county agencies, law enforcement and other community partners to move people toward appropriate services and stable alternatives to living on the streets.

His proposal also calls for exploring a properly managed tiny home or transitional housing community outside Eureka’s primary downtown commercial areas as one component of a broader strategy.

Dwivedi says compassion must be accompanied by accountability. People genuinely seeking assistance should have meaningful pathways toward housing, treatment and stability, while the City must also consistently enforce laws protecting public spaces, neighborhoods and businesses.

The objective for the first 12 months would be measurable progress: fewer people living on Eureka’s streets, cleaner and safer public spaces, better coordination of existing resources, and clear public reporting so residents can evaluate whether the strategy is producing results.

“We cannot continue discussing homelessness year after year without measuring whether our policies are actually working. We need to understand each person’s circumstances, connect people with the right resources, demand accountability, and measure our results.”

Dwivedi points to his own experience as a housing provider as part of his commitment to the issue. Before becoming a candidate for Mayor, he says he provided permanent private housing to more than 40 extremely low-income residents and families, including seniors, people with disabilities, and people coming from homelessness or housing instability.

3. PUBLIC INVITATION TO BOTH MAYORAL OPPONENTS

Dwivedi has also publicly invited both of his opponents in the Eureka mayoral election to participate in a roundtable discussion and/or public debate before Election Day.

He is calling for the event to be moderated by a local media organization or other neutral platform and believes voters should have the opportunity to hear candidates answer substantive questions directly and compare their priorities, records and proposed solutions.

“I welcome a respectful public discussion with both of my opponents. Let this election be decided on merits, achievements, facts, dedication, ideas and results. Eureka voters deserve the opportunity to hear directly from all of us.”

Dwivedi said he is prepared to discuss homelessness, public safety, housing, economic development, small businesses, infrastructure, City finances, government accountability and other major issues affecting Eureka.

A CAMPAIGN FOCUSED ON ACTION

Dwivedi, a Eureka business owner, real estate investor, realtor and housing provider, says these announcements reflect the central theme of his campaign: “Solutions, Not Politics.”

His priorities include addressing homelessness with measurable outcomes, improving public safety and cleanliness, repairing basic infrastructure, supporting Eureka’s small businesses, encouraging economic development, increasing accountability and transparency at City Hall, and restoring confidence in Eureka’s future.

“I believe leadership is demonstrated through action. Eureka has tremendous potential, but repeating the same conversations without measurable results will not move our city forward. I am asking the people of Eureka to judge me and every candidate by our ideas, our records and what we are actually prepared to accomplish.”
