More about the March 2024 Election Endorsements

Gordon Clatworthy for Humboldt County District 1 Supervisor

Gordon Clatworthy, a 40-year-old Coast Guard veteran and progressive candidate, brings a wealth of experience from his roles in the U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement and as an Emergency Medical Team leader. His background in supply management and overseeing federal funds positions him well for the challenges of public administration, including his experience with effective budgeting and resource allocation. Clatworthy’s platform focuses on addressing pressing community needs, such as housing, healthcare worker retention, and support for the farming community. Clatworthy’s vision is centered on innovative and sustainable policies that reflect the region’s richness and inclusivity. Learn more about Clatworthy’s campaign

Mike Wilson for Humboldt County District 3 Supervisor

Mike Wilson is a stalwart advocate for Humboldt County. He earned a Master’s Degree in Environmental Systems Engineering from Cal Poly Humboldt, established a successful consulting business, and served 11 years on the Harbor Commission. Over the past 7 years as county supervisor, Mike has collaborated with the community to address critical issues, such as the development of affordable housing, the expansion of renewable energy, the enhancement of public transportation and trails, and the improvement of emergency and long-term mental health services. Emphasizing climate resiliency and sustainable land use, Supervisor Wilson has worked diligently to protect watersheds, coastline, farmlands, and public access. With a focus on collaboration with community leaders, unions, and Tribes, Mike remains dedicated to preserving vital ecosystems while promoting economic growth through well-paying jobs, job training opportunities, improved healthcare access, and increased public safety. Learn more about Wilson’s campaign.

“NO” on Measure A Cannabis Reform Initiative

In addition to the candidate endorsements, the Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee strongly advocates for a “No” vote on Measure A. Unlike the current County cannabis rules, this measure was created without community input or oversight and lacks substantial support from our local environmental advocates and enforcement agencies. If approved by voters, it would establish 38 pages of onerous new rules and restrictions. To update these rules and regs, it would require another expensive trip to the ballot box to make any changes. Measure A would have devastating impacts on cannabis farmers of all sizes, including the very smallest. Learn more about No on Measure A
