Labor Unions Endorse Mike Wilson for Supervisor

Third District Supervisor Mike Wilson announces a growing list of endorsements from area labor unions in his bid for re-election in the upcoming election on March 5, 2024.

Unions in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties take their political endorsements seriously. Over the past months, the boards and political action committees of several unions sent detailed questionnaires to candidates, reviewed the responses, conducted in-person candidate interviews, looked at each candidates’ history and record, if any, and then voted which candidate to endorse.

The following unions have endorsed Mike Wilson for re-election because of his consistent support of labor rights and collective bargaining: Building and Construction Trades Council of Humboldt & Del Norte Counties; UNITE HERE Local #49; Humboldt and Del Norte Counties Central Labor Council; California Association of Professional Scientists; AFSCME Local #1684; LiUNA Laborers Local #324; and Operating Engineers Local Union #3.

These endorsements represent the confidence they have in Wilson to continue supporting the efforts of unions to better wages, benefits and working conditions for workers in the 3rd district and throughout the county. Wilson is a long-time friend of labor and has been a leader in the fight for fair wages and benefits for Humboldt County and other workers.

“I am honored to receive these endorsements and appreciate their trust in me,” said Wilson. “I believe collective bargaining for fair wages, benefits and working conditions is key to our county’s economic health and vitality. And their efforts improve wages and conditions for all workers, whether or not they are in a union.”

“I remain committed and energized to doing all I can, and partnering with Labor, Tribes and others to work for well-paying jobs, local apprenticeship programs and fair wages and benefits for all workers.”
