MAYORAL CANDIDATE ANIL DWIVEDI DISTINGUISHES CAMPAIGN THROUGH PUBLIC ACCESS, DIRECT ANSWERS AND DETAILED PLANS

Eureka mayoral candidate continues town halls, answers every LoCO voter question, social media questions and renews invitation for public debate

EUREKA, California - September 27, 2026 - As Eureka voters consider their choices for mayor, candidate Anil Dwivedi is emphasizing a campaign built around direct public access, detailed plans and a willingness to answer difficult questions.

Among the three candidates for Eureka mayor, Dwivedi is currently the only candidate to have answered every question submitted to him through the Lost Coast Outpost’s LoCO Elections forum and through all Social media platforms. LoCO’s election page lists Dwivedi as having answered 18 of 18 questions, compared with seven answered by each of the other two mayoral candidates.

Those questions have included difficult and sometimes highly critical subjects. Dwivedi has chosen to respond publicly rather than avoid them, including detailed responses concerning his business record, housing, homelessness and criticism directed personally at him.

That same approach has extended beyond online forums.

Dwivedi has already hosted multiple public town halls where residents are invited to ask questions, challenge his proposals and share concerns directly. His August 22 and September 19 town hall at 335 E Street was advertised as free and open to everyone, with residents specifically encouraged to bring tough questions and with “nothing off the table.”

Dwivedi has also publicly invited both of his opponents to participate in a moderated public debate or roundtable before Election Day, proposing that a local media organization or other neutral platform moderate the discussion. The invitation was publicly announced earlier this month. Neither opponent has publicly responded to or accepted that invitation as of the date of this release.

“If I am asking the people of Eureka to trust me with the responsibility of being their mayor, then I believe I have a responsibility to be available to them,” Dwivedi said. “That means showing up, listening, answering the difficult questions and explaining specifically what I would do not simply asking people for their vote.”

Dwivedi says that philosophy is also why he has been personally knocking on doors, meeting residents and engaging directly with community members in person and online including people who disagree with him or strongly challenge his record.

The campaign has also sought to move beyond broad promises by publishing specific proposals addressing homelessness, the drug and overdose crisis, public safety, housing, infrastructure, city finances, economic development, Downtown and Old Town revitalization, and the future of Bayshore Mall.

Dwivedi’s published First 100 Days plan identifies ten areas for immediate action, including a 12 month homelessness strategy, a city financial health check, street and infrastructure priorities, economic development initiatives and a Day 100 public accountability report measuring progress against the commitments made during the campaign.

“Campaigns should be about more than signs, slogans and prepared speeches,” Dwivedi said. “Tell people what you are going to do. Put your plans in writing. Answer their questions. Meet them face-to-face. Then let the voters examine the record, compare the ideas and make their own decision.”

NEXT COMMUNITY TOWN HALL

Dwivedi will continue that public engagement effort with another Eureka Community Town Hall:

Sunday, October 4, 2026
5:00 PM
335 E Street, Eureka, CA 95501

The town hall is free and open to everyone. Residents are invited to bring their questions, concerns, criticism and ideas about Eureka.

“You do not have to support me, and you do not have to agree with me,” Dwivedi said. “Come ask me the hard questions. Tell me what you think I am getting right and what you think I am getting wrong. I will continue making myself available because Eureka belongs to all of us, and every resident deserves to be heard.”
