MAYORAL CANDIDATE ANIL DWIVEDI UNVEILS “FIRST 100 DAYS” ACTION PLAN FOR EUREKA

From Anil Dwivedi/Sept. 7, 2026, 10:31 a.m.

Plan Prioritizes Homelessness, Drug and Overdose Crisis, Public Safety, Fiscal Accountability, Infrastructure and Economic Development

EUREKA, California: Eureka mayoral candidate and local business owner Anil Dwivedi today released his “First 100 Days as Mayor of Eureka” plan, outlining ten priorities he will immediately begin advancing when elected.

The plan focuses on homelessness, Eureka’s drug and overdose crisis, public safety, City finances, streets and infrastructure, business development, garbage service choice, homeowner water and sewer costs, economic development and public accountability.

“I am not running for Mayor to spend four years talking about the same problems,” Dwivedi said. “The first 100 days will be about getting to work, bringing people together and putting measurable solutions into motion. Eureka has tremendous potential, but realizing that potential requires urgency, accountability and leadership focused on results.”

DWIVEDI’S FIRST 100 DAYS PRIORITIES

1. HOMELESSNESS ACTION PLAN
Launch a 12 month plan focused on housing, treatment, mental health services, employment and accountability with measurable monthly progress.

2. DRUG & OVERDOSE CRISIS RESPONSE
Review Eureka’s drug, overdose and harm-reduction strategies, including HACHR, with a stronger focus on treatment, recovery and measurable outcomes.

3. PUBLIC SAFETY & CLEAN STREETS
Address open drug activity, illegal camping, dangerous conditions, trash and recurring public safety problems in Eureka’s highest-impact areas.

4. CITY FINANCIAL HEALTH CHECK
Review spending, revenues, reserves, debt, contracts and major expenses. Identify waste while protecting essential services and taxpayers.

5. “FIX EUREKA FIRST”
Prioritize potholes, damaged streets, sidewalks, lighting and other urgent infrastructure needs. Basic city services must come first.

6. REGIONAL BUSINESS FORUM & “PATH TO YES”
Bring together businesses, Chambers of Commerce and government agencies to streamline permits, inspections and approval processes.

7. CHOICE IN GARBAGE SERVICE
Pursue lawful alternatives, including a responsible self-haul option, while preserving curbside pickup for residents who want it.

8. HOMEOWNER WATER & SEWER RELIEF
Pursue assistance, financing and policy reforms to reduce the financial burden of required water and sewer lateral work.

9. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & VACANT PROPERTIES
Fill vacant storefronts, create jobs and bring economic activity back to Eureka, including renewed attention to major commercial areas such as Bayshore Mall.

10. PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT
On Day 100, report what was completed, what is underway, what obstacles remain and what comes next with transparent results and no excuses.

SAVING LIVES AND ADDRESSING EUREKA’S DRUG CRISIS

Dwivedi said the drug and overdose crisis deserves particular attention during his first 100 days.

“Saving Eurekans’ lives is more important than defending any particular policy or program,” Dwivedi said. “I want a serious review of what we are doing including our approach to harm reduction and the impacts of HACHR. If something is working, the evidence should show it. If something is failing, we need the courage to change direction. Treatment, recovery, public safety and measurable outcomes must all be part of the conversation.”

Dwivedi said the review should involve law enforcement, healthcare and treatment professionals, Humboldt County, service providers, businesses, residents and people with lived experience.

MAKING EUREKA EASIER FOR BUSINESS

Another major component of the plan is the creation of a Regional Business Forum, bringing together Eureka and regional Chambers of Commerce, business owners, entrepreneurs and government representatives.

The goal would be to identify unnecessary barriers involving permits, inspections, approvals and other processes and develop what Dwivedi calls a “Path to YES” for responsible businesses seeking to open, operate or expand in Eureka.

“When somebody wants to invest their money, open a business and create jobs in Eureka, City Hall should help them find a responsible path forward,” Dwivedi said. “We should be competing for businesses and investment not making people wonder why they chose Eureka.”

ACCOUNTABILITY ON DAY 100

Dwivedi said the final commitment may be the most important: publicly reporting the administration’s progress after its first 100 days.

The report would identify which commitments have been completed, which are underway, what obstacles remain and what comes next.

“I want the people of Eureka to keep this plan,” Dwivedi said. “On Day 100, take it back out and compare my promises with the results. Government should not be afraid of being measured.”

Dwivedi emphasized that many City actions require cooperation among the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, City staff and outside agencies, and said his first-100-days commitment is to immediately begin advancing these priorities, build the partnerships necessary to implement them and publicly account for the results.

“I cannot promise that every problem Eureka faces will disappear in 100 days. I can promise urgency, transparency, responsibility and accountability,” Dwivedi said. “Please help me fix this city and bring Eureka to its full potential.”

100 DAYS. CLEAR PRIORITIES. REAL ACTION. PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY.
