The Sierra Club has endorsed Supervisor Mike Wilson in the upcoming election for Humboldt County’s Third District Supervisor on March 5, 2024.

Mike Wilson is a long-time friend of the environment and leader in the fight against climate change. He led the effort to clean up the Samoa Pulp Mill as a member of the Humboldt Bay Harbor District. He works to protect our coast and public access as a member of the California Coastal Commission. And as a county supervisor, he has pushed for and supported development of a vibrant renewable energy and public transit infrastructure in Humboldt County to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels that pollute our water, land, air and climate.

“The Sierra Club is one of the most effective environmental organizations in the country and is an important player in the fight against climate change. I am proud and honored to receive their endorsement,” said Wilson. “I remain committed and energized to doing all I can, partnering with the Sierra Club and others, to work towards climate resiliency. It will take all of us.”

Since it’s founding in 1892, the Sierra Club has evolved from a group focused on the conservation of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains to an organization that works to advance climate solutions and ensure everyone has access to clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment. Today the Sierra Club has over one million members nationwide, chapters on all 50 states and works for climate adaptation strategies that are equitable and fair.
