The Salty Farmer asks Audrey Hanks…
Assessor Allegations
Dear Deputy Assessor Hanks, In his Toby in the Morning interview, Mr. Larson made serious accusations against the Assessor’s Office. One allegation is that the Assessor’s Office is colluding with the County to deliberately assess properties at an inflated value. What level of evidence should a local political candidate be expected to provide the public? If a candidate has such evidence of fraud and collusion, do they have a moral and ethical obligation to present said evidence to the public prior to an election?

Dear “The Salty Farmer”,
The allegation made to imply that the Assessor’s Office is “colluding” is 100% FALSE.
I would encourage voters to be informed about their ballot choices. Research your candidates. Visit their websites and social media platforms. Talk to them in person. Ask yourself: “Who is the most qualified candidate to lead this complex office”?
I am not a politician throwing out buzz words to get votes. I am a person who has committed the past 23 years of my life working within the Assessor’s Office.
The staff in the Assessor’s Office has integrity, compassion, and dedication. In fact, the Board of Supervisors recently complimented the Assessor’s Office staff on their excellent customer service and their quick responses to constituents.
The Assessor’s Office takes the responsibility seriously to assesses fairly and according to the laws as outlined in the California Revenue and Taxation Code. The Assessor’s Office works for all voters, not just property owners.
Your vote matters. Please vote for experience, professionalism, and integrity on June 2nd.
