In April 2024 KRCR reporter Adelmi Ruiz was arrested at Cal Poly Humboldt while livestreaming the BDS protests by students. The county booking sheet lists you as the arresting officer. Law enforcement and the university’s response to the protests was heavily criticized as poorly planned and “constitutionally suspect”, with some alleging that officers turned off their body cameras during the arrests. As a lieutenant with Cal Poly Humboldt what is your opinion on your employer’s response to political protest and your arrest of a journalist covering said events?
