What is life like in Eureka for you?

I want to understand your footing in our community as a local resident. Do you live in Eureka full time? How long has Eureka been your primary residence? Do you have a family and children who go to local schools?

Hi Robin,

Yes. Eureka is my home. I live here full time, and it has been my primary residence for more than six years.

I don’t simply own property or conduct business in Eureka. I have invested my time, my resources, my work, and quite honestly, my blood, sweat and tears into this community. I have built businesses here, created jobs here, and developed relationships with people from many different walks of life.

One of the things I am most proud of is helping provide private, permanent housing to more than 40 extremely low-income Eureka residents, including seniors, people with disabilities, and people who have experienced homelessness or serious housing instability. Through that experience, I have gotten to know people whose lives and struggles might otherwise be invisible to many of us.

I do not have children attending Eureka schools but many of my employees are raising their families here and have children in our local schools. I hear about their experiences, their concerns, and what they want for their children’s future. I care deeply about whether Eureka is a place where those children will want to stay, build careers, raise families, and someday call home themselves.

My connection to Eureka is also found in the ordinary moments of everyday life. I walk my dog several miles around Eureka every day. I walk through our neighborhoods, downtown and Old Town. I see what is beautiful about our city, and I also see the things we need to improve.

Eureka isn’t a place I observe from a distance. I live here. I work here. I walk these streets. I invest here. I serve people here. And when Eureka succeeds or struggles, I experience it alongside my neighbors.

That is why this election is personal to me. I am not simply running to become Mayor of a city.

I am asking for the opportunity to serve the community I am proud to call home.
